This
is the beach at South Akumal, and Casa Colibri is located on the lower end of
the photo, just slightly above where those two rocks are in the water.
This could be your home or vacation retreat. The old adage in Real Estate
is "Location - Location - Location",
and you would be hard pressed to find a better location in Akumal, and probably
along the entire coast of the Riviera Maya.
Casa Colibri (Hummingbird) is located in the small, residential gated community known as Akumal Sur (South Akumal), which is about 3 kilometers from Akumal Central, but worlds away in tranquility. This part of Mexico is referred to as The Riviera Maya, and Akumal is the jewel in the crown of The Riviera Maya.
The shallow bay of South Akumal is protected by the Mesoamerican Reef which lies about 200 yards off the beach. The Mesoamerican Reef, the second longest in the world-- it stretches nearly 700 miles from the northern tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula to the Bay Islands in northern Honduras -- is part of a larger interconnected system of currents and habitats that stretch throughout the Caribbean Basin and beyond and is one of the region's greatest natural assets. An ancient natural system dating back 225 million years, the reefs function as a natural barrier to storms and hurricanes and are critical to the survival of plant and animal species.
South Akumal is located less than five minutes from Akumal proper. It is an exclusive, safe, small gated community of privately owned beachfront villas. The beach is white sand and often quoted as the best in the area. 24 hour security is present, and the beach is cleaned daily. From South Akumal, restaurants and other services are available to the north in Akumal, or to the south in Tulum.
Casa Colibri is a 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom house with a pool and a garage. Every room is air-conditioned with a mini-split unit, and every room, including the bathrooms, has a ceiling fan. The house has satellite TV and all programming comes from the US. There are two hard telephone lines from Telmex, and Vonage VoIP is also available over the DSL Internet connection. The swimming pool has a low maintenance Desjoyaux pump/filtration system, and the pool also has a heater for those cool winter months.
And, Casa Colibri comes with the Beach Concession for the Federal Zone.
